Wildlife Center

AZGFD's Wildlife Center plays a crucial role in wildlife conservation with programs such as the tortoise adoption initiative, animal ambassadors, and emergency care for sick and injured animals. Below are key projects that need support:

  • Aviary Construction: Construct an aviary to house non-releasable birds used in educational programs, with an estimated cost of over $500,000.

  • Desert Tortoise Adoption Program: Establish a Captive Desert Tortoise Spay Fund to spay surrendered or seized adult females that have been housed with males, preventing future egg-laying. The estimated cost is $25,000, with approximately $600 required for each tortoise.

  • Wildlife Center Intern Fund: This fund will support paid intern positions at the Wildlife Center, providing valuable assistance in animal husbandry for our non-releasable education ambassadors, public outreach and education, and the care and adoption of desert tortoises. The goal is to raise $26,000 annually for one intern working 1,500 hours.

Support for these initiatives will help AZGFD provide essential care and education, fostering a deeper connection between the community and wildlife.

Wildlife Education

Live Wildlife Cameras

AZGFD aims to install more live wildlife cameras for new species, significantly enhancing our outreach and raising awareness about conservation. To date, AZGFD Live Wildlife Cameras have garnered over 2.5 million views across 38 countries and 42 states, illustrating their impact.

The cost to procure and install each remote live wildlife camera ranges from $5,000 to $25,000. Support will help broaden wildlife monitoring efforts and engage a larger audience in conservation initiatives.
